| Cotes Du Rhone Villages wine Domaine Brusset Cairanne Les Coteaux Des Travers 2004 is a rich and robust French red with a ruby-red color. It is produced with 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault, all from 30 year old vines, and has profound concentration and depth. Seventy percent of this Cotes Du Rhone Villages wine is aged in tank or large oak demi-muids, the remaining 30% seeing almost a year in small, old oak barrels. With aromas of black currant and elderberry, this Cotes Du Rhone Villages starts with full and concentrated flavors, silky tannins, black currant and cherry, and a long finish with a touch of pepper and spice. The top ratings say it all. Pairs well with all types of roasted meats, game animals and aged cheese. Drink now through 2012.
Andres Brusset started this Cotes Du Rhone estate in 1947 and since then has grown into one of the largest landowners in Cairanne and Gigondas, with important holdings in both appellations. He passed away in 1999 and his family has managed to combine the "savoir faire" of traditional wine making with the new techniques introduced by each generation. His son Daniel and his grand-son Laurent have continued the tradition of distinctive grape growing and wine making at Domaine Brusset, where three complementary generations together have achieved remarkable French wines.
RATINGS: 91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
"Inky purple in color, this traditional blend of 60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre and 5% Cinsault is a big, tannic wine, but the tannins are supple and ripe. Dark fruit--blueberries and plums--grace notes of violets and smoke add nuance.."
