Chianti Classico wine producer Colle Bereto is located in the center of the oldest area of Chianti Classico, an officially designated zone for the production of superior-quality wine. Colle Bereto Chianti Classico 2002 is one of their most popular and superior reds. It is produced with 97% Sangiovese grapes from the estate with a light 3% of Colorino grapes. This Chianti Classico 2002 shows a deep violet red color and has spiced aroma of black berries and marmalade. The black berries and mild marmalade taste is dry, firm and intense. It's long finish lingers in the mouth. The delightful taste is a result of aging in oak barrels for one year, then refined in the bottles for at least 6 months before shipping. It's an Italian red wine to be served with roasted meats, but is also enjoyable by itself. Only 2,500 cases produced.

The Colle Bereto estate is close to Radda in Chianti, a small town that is about 30 km from Siena and 40 km from Florence. It is in the center of the oldest area of Chianti Classico, an officially designated zone for the production of a superior-quality wine. The farmhouse and outbuildings are in the typical Chianti style and have been carefully restored. Colle Bereto has very ancient origins. It was first in existence at the beginning of the 11th century, when it was donated to the church of San Lorenzo a Coltibuono. The Colle Bereto estate covers 50 hectares and the vineyards account for about 10 hectares. The vineyards are registered in the official DOCG (controlled and guaranteed designation of origin) register for Chianti Classico. The vineyards face south-west, which is the ideal exposure for ripening grapes, and the vines are planted on gentle slopes. The soil is a mixture of galestro (limestone) and albarese (clayey calcareous stone) on a rocky subsoil. These elements, together with an extremely favorable climate and optimum altitude, are essential for a product of superior quality.
